BIM - Building Information Modelling at HAURATON

1. Building Information Modelling

1.1 What is BIM?

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a networked, cooperative methodology for planning, implementation, management and handling of construction projects. Since the planning and realisation of such a project is carried out by a large number of participants from different disciplines, a relatively high degree of complexity in coordination and data exchange is quickly reached. A BIM model helps to reduce this degree of complexity and facilitates the exchange of technical drawings, building information and detailed photographs for all participants.

Architects, specialist planners and construction companies work together in a database to create a digital 3D model, a so-called virtual twin of a building. This contains all data on the geometry, properties of the building components, time planning and cost management. All participants can work and exchange information without any difficulties.

There are country-specific requirements for the percentage of completion LOD (Level of Development). This is made up of the level of information LOI (Level of Information), which contains non-geometric information about the model, and the level of detail LOG (Level of Geometry), which contains geometric information about the model.

1.2 Main Objectives of BIM

  • Ensuring functionality, quality, compliance with costs and deadlines
  • Cooperation of all project participants to increase effectiveness and efficiency
  • Immediate and continuous availability of curent data for all parties involved
  • Complete documentation of the process flow including project changes
  • Improvement of the economic efficiency of project processing
  • Continuous data processing during the entire life cycle of the building

HAURATON's BIM projects offer the greatest possible benefit for all project participants, as well as for considering the entire life cycle of a building. This makes it possible to save time and costs throughout the entire project process and to implement projects successfully.

2. BIM at HAURATON

We offer you all products from our product range as a REVIT family. Depending on the planning phase, you will receive them in a planner version in a low level of development (LOD) or in a visualisation version in a high LOD, so that you can work on your project with great time savings and with maximum benefits.

2.1 Planner Version

In the planning phase, there is little demand on the geometric level of detail (LOG) in the product presentation. Here the focus is on a small file size. This is the only way to install many components in a complex BIM model, e.g. of a building, and work on them simultaneously without significantly reducing the "system performance".

The geometry of the construction element and the area to be drained is shown in the form of drainage wings which can be adjusted as required. The resulting volume flow is then calculated. In addition, barrier areas for installation in the corresponding load classes and for the required maintenance space are given.

Advantages of the Planner Version:

  • Graphic conceptional model
  • Geometric information (LOG) from 100-300 included
  • Information about the component (LOI) from 100-500 included
  • Angle and length cuts of the channel can be individually adjusted
  • Connected drainage area individually adjustable
  • Volume flow is displayed and calculated
  • Space considered for installation, maintenance and excavation

2.2 Visualisation Version

In the later planning phases, a high level of geometric detailing (LOG) should support the product selection. The visualisation version is an as-built representation that is used to generate renderings and generate simulations. This means the level of geometric representation (LOG) is very high, which increases the file size accordingly.

However, the information content (LOI) is analogous to the planner version and covers the LOI from 100-500. The visualisation version is also suitable for viewing the entire life cycle. For maintenance purposes, for example, information can be taken from it that enables you to create budget and time planning.

Advantages of the Visualisation Version:

  • Exact graphic representation
  • Geometric information (LOG)from 100-500 included
  • Information about the component (LOI) from 100-500 included
  • Information suitable for Facility Management
  • Angle and length cuts of the channel can be made on request
  • Connected drainage area individually adjustable
  • Volume flow is displayed and calculated
  • Space considered for installation, maintenance and excavation
